Inspired by Augusto Boal, the Fluxus movement, Flashmob action and Trigger
Happy TV, Periplum offer an exciting exploration of invisible theatre
to provide another enriching take on site-responsive, interactive &
outdoor performance, inspiring participants to create imaginative live
& film performance.
Participants devise their own scenarios, interventions and characters/roles
based on social observation. Together, we generate and masterclass ideas
in a supportive & focused workshop environment, exploring skills &
techniques such as Ensemble work, Physicality, Clown, Character development,
Improvisation & Interaction. With participants we make and resource
props & costume, develop objectives, decide sites, plan the action,
and take to the streets, where we set up base, provide logistical support
and film the performances.
Periplums invisible theatre project will:
- Develop participants ability to devise work from social observation.
- Encourage dialogue, shared objective building & planning amongst
the workshop group.
- Facilitate confidence-building and mutual support as participants
take their work out into the real world.
- Provide a complete creative experience that is challenging &
rewarding from conception through to public performance, review
and critical analysis.
Performances range from the socially relevant to the surreal or subversive.
Devising work for an everyday environment inspires participants to broaden
their perspective on performing arts and to place theatre within a social
context.
We recommend the Invisible Theatre project takes place over a series
of sessions.
