‘An amazing, sensory piece of theatre’
East Magazine

‘Beautiful, well executed, a success.’
Total Theatre

This 360 degree spectacle tells the story of a warring clan in a warring land. Life changes forever when the clan is devastated under attack from invading forces. The survivors are faced with a choice: seek revenge or stay & rebuild. The creation of a bell becomes the focus of the people’s hope and a celebration of life through communal struggle.

Taking inspiration from the visceral force of the film Andrei Rublev by Tarkovsky, The Bell features fire & pyro from The World Famous.

Co-commissioned in 2007 by Hastings Borough Council, the National Theatre, Made in Brighton and Winchester Hat Fair. Funded by ACE.
